
Everything started in 1858 in a small town of the " Entre-Deux-Mers " region… At this time the Ducourt Family, owners of Château des Combes, settled in the hamlet of Hourc. Hourc, which means in the ancient local dialect 'oven', was a gathering place during the Middle Ages where people use to bake traditional bread. The flour used came from the Haurets' mill, located only a stone's throw from the Château des Combes.
Pierre Ducourt, Bernard Ducourt's great grand father, arrived at the family estate in 1885. His son Louis inherited his position in 1919; at that time the property consisted of 9 hectares of vineyards.
In 1951, the arrival of Henri Ducourt on the domain set the beginning of a new era for the Ducourt's vineyard. As an ambitious and brave wine maker and with the help of his three children (Bernard, Marie-Christine and Philippe), he revitalised his activity and managed to elevate the Ducourt vineyard among the most important vineyards in the Bordeaux area (440 acres, 12 Châteaux)…
